A: No, GGBA does not hold a summer league.
Q: How are your Board Members elected?
A: Our Board is elected by open ballot at the first annual open general meeting of the season.
Q: Do any of your Board Members or Coaches get paid a salary?
A: No, GGBA is a not for profit organization.
All Board members and team coaches are volunteers of their own time for the success of this league.
Q: When does registration open?
A: GGBA generally opens registration for all players and coaches during Labor Day weekend.
Q: When do practices start?
A: Practices generally start the week following the GISD Thanksgiving Day break.
Q: How often do the girls practice?
A: The girls will have practices twice a week, weather pending, that continue through the regular season. (Practices are held Wednesday and Friday nights)
Q: When do the games start?
A: The tentative regular season start date will vary each year and is determined by the GISD Christmas break. Normally first Saturday after school is back in session in January.
Q: Does the GGBA hold playoffs?
A: GGBA holds a bracket style tournament after the conclusion of the regular season. All teams participate in the tournament.
Q: How are teams formed?
A: The Board of Directors conduct a vote on how teams will be formed at the years opening general meeting open to the public. (Teams will be formed by school for the 2009-2010 season) Also, Girls playing for school teams in 7th and 8th grade only are eligible to play.
Q: Does GGBA have a returning team policy?
A: Yes, and strictly enforced… see by-laws. "Minimum of five girls from the 2008-2009 team and all applications and fees must be received by the board before the end of the registration deadline "No exceptions".
Q: Can our girl request to play with a specific coach?
A: No, teams will be formed by school for the 2008-2009 season without prejudice of coach.
* If there is not enough players to form a team, the players will be combined with schools within the same demographical area.
* If there is enough players to create more than 1 team per school, the Board of Directors will create the teams without prejudice of skill or ability of player or coach.

A: GGBA uses Texas Athletics UIL rules with TASO certified officials
Q: Do you allow girls that play on a public school team?
A: No, GGBA does not allow players from any public school team.
GGBA is an instructional league, stressing on the fundamentals of the game of basketball. The level of coaching, competition and skill may not meet the expected standard that a school player. (Restricted to GISD Eligible Girls)
Q: Are Uniforms included with the registration fee?
A: Yes, the league will provide the team jersey.
GGBA allow the girls to wear their own shorts in which they feel comfortable to play in.
Q: Are practices in the same gym every week?
A: Yes. all practices are held in the same gym through out the season, pending any circumstances beyond our control.
Q: Will the games be scheduled at the same gym every week?
A: GGBA generally uses the same gyms for all games played each week, but a gym may not be limited to any specific team, school or grade level.
